A classic applesauce recipe. With a good dose of cinnamon and a touch of maple syrup, this recipe is perfect for snacks or desserts.

INGREDIENTS

  • 12 apples (approximately)
  • ½ cup(s) water
  • ¼ cup(s) maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice (juice of ½ lemon)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp grounded ginger

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Seed, peel and cut all the apples into cubes.
  • Combine all the ingredients in a pot and bring to a boil over high heat.
  • Once boiling, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for about 10 minutes or until the apples come apart with a fork.
  • Let cool for 15 minutes and then, using a masher, wooden spoon or fork, roughly break up the apples.

NOTES

If you like having big chunks of apples in your applesauce, avoid breaking it up too much once it's cooled. On the other hand, if you prefer a smoother texture, you could extend the cooking time and even use a blender to smooth the apples.
This recipe produces approximately 1 liter of applesauce.
